Supply

Helping get access to material not held in ATU Libraries.

Document Supply can help you get access to a wide range of material not held by ATU Libraries for ATU research purposes only.

While we endeavour to provide for the most up-to-date information resources, it is not possible to stock everything. If you don’t have access to the items you need, we will be happy to help you locate them. The document supply service provides access to material required for research that is not held in GMIT libraries. The service strives to source this material from other libraries worldwide. Books are generally supplied on loan, while copies of journal articles or book chapters are delivered for you to keep.

Before submitting a document supply request please check Search + Find and Google Scholar for the item, if we do not have the item(s) you require for your research either in print or online.

Who can submit a request?

  • All current registered users.
  • Undergraduates are charged €8.00 for each request or €4.00 an article request.
  • Staff, postgraduates, project research students, alumni and external members please contact the library regarding document supply charges.

What can I request?

  • Books
  • Journal articles
  • Newspaper articles
  • Magazine articles
  • Dissertations or theses
  • Conference proceedings
  • Technical reports
  • Standards

Requests will not be accepted for items available in the Library (print or online) including items on loan to other users, available for library use only, or freely available online.

Delivery, Lending & Renewals

Articles usually arrive at the library within seven days of submitting a request. Books may take a little longer depending on availability. Please take note of this delay when ordering items, and incorporate it into any time limits you may be working under.

Requestors will be notified by e-mail or telephone according to the details submitted on the request form. Items will be held behind the desk of your home library to be picked up within 5 days. If the item is not picked up after this time and no other arrangements have been made then it will be returned to the lending library and the cost will be added to your library account.

The loan period for books and other returnable material is determined by the lending library and is usually 2 to 4 weeks. The lending library may recall an item – in this case the item may not be renewed. Requests for renewal may be considered and must be made in advance of the due date by contacting the document supply contact at your campus library.

It is the responsibility of the borrower to ensure that the item is returned to the library by the due date.
