Newspapers

Newspaper articles are great research tools. They can keep you up to date on current affairs and are useful for identifying key trends and reviewing analysis of particular issues. You can access many different newspapers from historical scanned originals to the most current Irish newspapers online through our electronic subscriptions.

We have online subscriptions to the following (go to our eResources & Databases page for links to access):

• The Irish Newspaper Archive – papers include The Irish Independent, City Tribune, Connacht Tribune, Mayo News
• The Irish Times Online Newspaper Archive – search the archive back as far as 1859
• Businesspost.ie + The Sunday Business Post – password required email us
• Regional Business News – provides regional business publications for the US and Canadian provinces

Please note it is worth checking individual newspapers to see what online access they offer.

• The Guardian has free online access.
• There is also free student access from the Irish Times (login using your ATU student email).
