Requests/Reservations

Items that are on loan can be reserved so that once a book is returned it will be held at the issue desk for the borrower who has placed it on hold.

Inter Branch Loans

Items that are held in other GMIT libraries (Cluain Mhuire, Castlebar, and Letterfrack) can be obtained free of charge by the same method as reserving a book.

How do I place a hold on a book?

Online via our WebPac

Simply search the catalogue, select the book you require and click on the 'request' button at the top of the screen, fill in your personal details and hit submit.

Please note that you cannot place a hold on a book that is available in your own campus, however you may place a hold on a book that is available in another campus.

You can not put a hold on a Short loan or Desk Reserve items

Keep an eye on the noticeboard in your library to check when the book is available for collection. The library will only hold a book at the desk for a maximum of 3 days for and full time student and 7 days for a part time student after which we assume you no longer want it. It will then pass on to the next person on the list or it will be put back on the shelf.

Inter Library Loans (ILLs)

While we strive to provide for the most up-to-date information resources, it is not possible to cater for everything. If we do not stock the book or journal you need we can borrow it from external sources through our interlibrary loan scheme. Just fill in the online forms available via our webopac.
