A microfiche is a small, flat sheet (usually 4 in. x 6 in. or 3 in. x 5 in.) of photographic film which contains small images arranged in horizontal and vertical rows. They were originally made to facilitate storage by libraries etc, but are now largely made redundant by computer technology.
