Services available include:

  • Training a class or small group on library online databases
  • Training academic staff on databases related to their area of expertise
  • Training for library staff on new products and services
  • Videoconferencing (located in IT centre, Lower Ground Floor)

Our videoconferencing unit is suitable for small groups of 4 to 6 people for meetings, training etc. Our unit is the Polycom HTX 7000.

Videoconferencing is a live connection between people in separate locations. It provides transmission of full-motion video images and high-quality audio between the locations. Videoconferencing can be undertaken through high-speed telephone networks or via the Internet. It will also allow the sharing of computer applications (e.g., PowerPoint® presentations, document sharing, file transfer, etc.)

If you wish to use this facility the booking form is available on http://infonet.gmit.ie under the main menu / finance office / computing services / Video Conferencing Booking Form. You can save the form to your PC and return it by e-mail or print the form and return it to Liam Noonan. Please give at least one week's notice prior to a video conferencing session to ensure room availability, networking resources and technical support.
