The CD collection includes titles from many disciplines, including, arts & humanities, business studies and engineering.

Although many of the popular early CD-roms have predominantly moved over to Web-based platforms, CD-roms are still a powerful tool for searching information.

There are four basic types of CD-roms each of which contain varying degrees of detail:

• Bibliographic - basic details of books and journals ie. title, author, year
• Abstrct - bibliographic detail plus an abstract or summary of the article
• Fulltext - bibliographic detail plus entire article
• Multimedia - CD-roms which contain text, sound and video. eg. Encarta
