1. A GMIT ID must be presented at the circulation desk for each transaction. A reader wishing to borrow from the library may be asked to complete a registration card.
  2. All items borrowed must be returned or renewed (if posssible) by the time/date due.
  3. The borrower is responsible for the safekeeping of a book until it has been returned and the loan record cancelled. Borrowers may not transfer an item they have borrowed to another person.
  4. Books may be renewed if not requested by other borrowers.
  5. Upon receipt of an urgent recall notice, or phonecall, a book must be returned within 24 hours.
  6. A fine will be charged on each volume overdue.
  7. A reader damaging or losing a book belonging to the Library, shall be liable to pay the cost of a replacement copy.
  8. Journals, reference material and some special collections such as Government Publications may not be borrowed.
  9. The Librarian may, at his or her discretion, stop the lending out of books in immediate demand and reserve them for consultation within the library.
  10. Borrowing privileges may be withdrawn on infringement of these regulations.

  1 day loan books are issued to all members for 24 hours only - they cannot be renewed. The fine for an overdue 1 day (short loan) book is 20c per hour or part thereof.

  Desk Reserve materials are for use in the library only. Fines for these items are 50c per hour or part thereof.

  Fines of 20c per day are per item.
