Borrowing

Students

Students can borrow up to 4 books from our general book stock at any one time for a period of one week. Books labelled Short Loan can be borrowed for a twenty four hour period only. The college ID card must be presented at the issue desk in order to borrow books. Fines will be charged on all overdue items. Students may not borrow until fines are paid off in full.

Books can be renewed if not required by another borrower, i.e. the loan period can be extended. Books should be renewed before the due date as the library does not renew overdue books. Continuous renewal of the same book is not allowed.
If a book has been requested it can not be renewed.
Renewals may be done in person, by phone (094 - 904 3146) or online via 'My Library Account'.

All DVD, Video and Audio resources may be used in the library.  Students  may also borrow these items  for two nights.  The fine on overdue items is 50c per day overdue.

It is the borrower's responsibility to ensure that all library material is returned on time and all borrowers are reminded not to loan their ID card to anyone.

Please click here for details on fine charges.

Staff

Full-time and part time staff can borrow up to 10 books for one month from the general stock. Staff are requested to return Short Loan books promptly. As with students, staff must also present their library membership card at the issue desk in order to borrow or renew books. Staff with overdue books will be sent a reminder to return or renew them.

Castlebar library staff welcome your comments:

Use the new comment box on the library ground floor. Replies will be posted each month on the adjacent notice board. Also remember the online Suggestion facility on the library catalogue http://library.gmit.ie/suggest.
